Comet or Shooting Star

Description
Have you ever seen a falling star? Well even if you didnt with this tutorial you will be able to make one yourself.

Make new layer by clicking on the icon of bent paper in layer pallet and with the selection of the stars sill selected, use Edit/Fill - white.

You shoud have the following.
 

 

The stars might be too big or too small, for that use Edit/Free transformation.

Next thing is to remove those stars that should not be there.

Make new Layer Mask, by clicking on the rectangle with a circle while you are in the stars layer. it will make white rectangle next to the layer icon, right?

In the case you have no idea what Layer Mask is, click here to read Mastering Layer Mask tutorial.

Set the colors to default (press D) and use Gradient tool to paint in the layer mask. What is black is hidden. so use the gradient to hide all you dont want. after that you should have some thing that already a bit resembles a night sky.

 

 

Now we will ade a bit of glow around the stars. Doubleclick on the layer icon, or go Layer/Layer style/Outer Glow, and use the following settings:

 

 

But the stars are still do shiny, so decrease Opacity of the layer to about 30% or as much as you like.

 
So we have this:
 


Now lets make a star. A shooting star.
